Press release - Comunicato per stampa internazionale. Future of sport for all with “Move Congress”, organised by Uisp and Isca

From October 22nd to 25th Rome will be the centre of world and European reflection on future of sport for all with “Move Congress”, organised by Uisp and Isca, biggest international net of sport for all. 50 different countries will be represented. For 4 days more than 300 people from universities, ngos, local bodies and institutions will discuss about the theme “Open city, active city” – in the frame of architecture department of University Roma3.

Why to discuss about future of sportforall we start from the cities? “Because concentration of many people in crowded places obliges us think to urban spaces in a new way, to practice new styles of life, more active and human oriented – said Vincenzo Manco, Uisp National president

Mogens Kirkeby, Isca president: “We will try to discover how towns could be more liveable. Towns are today very crowded, and more and more people move to them. We have to find solution on sharing of urban spaces and to use them in a flexible way.  We have to listen human body, to understand how streets and squares can be more welcoming and less stressing”.

Move congress will open on Wednesday October 22nd with a plenary session, at the presence of Giovanni Panebianco (Italian presidency of EU), Giovanni Malagò (Italian NOC president), Luca Pancalli (assessor for Sport and quality of life of Rome), Vincenzo Manco (Uisp president), Mogens Kirkeby (Isca president), Jayne Greenberg (President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition, USA), Jane Ashwoth (CEO of Streetgames).

On Thursday, after a full morning of debates (find here the program: http://www.movecongress.com/2014-programme/), participants will split in two groups to make a path of urban orienteering in the ancient Rome, with breaks of street theatre and music exhibitions, and they will meet in Piazza Campidoglio, where after a beautiful show of music and dance by gymnastic teams, the mayor of Rome – Ignazio Marino – will welcome the Move Congress people in Rome.

Friday will be another full day of work, with debates organised in innovative way, with movement and  sport activities in the morning and during the breaks, to arrive in the late afternoon to summarize conclusions of the event.  On Saturday in the same spaces will be organised Uisp National Council and Isca General Assembly, while for people not involved in these institutional bodies will be prepared a cultural touristic tour in the city of Rome.
